FAQ

How does a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) work?

A solar power purchase agreement (PPA) allows you to pay for the electricity generated by solar panels, rather than the panels themselves. You are charged a per kilowatt-hour (kWh) rate, which is typically lower than the residential electricity rate charged by your local utility. On the other hand, with a solar prepaid lease, you can switch to solar energy by making a single upfront payment. Additionally, the maintenance and monitoring of your solar panels over the duration of your agreement are taken care of, allowing you to enjoy hassle-free solar power.

Would solar be a suitable option for my home?

Determining whether your home is a suitable candidate for solar power depends on various factors, including its location, roof angle, roof shading, and age. To assess whether solar is a good fit for your home, contact one of our Solar Advisors who can conduct a customized analysis of your property using our most advanced solar design technology. We only recommend solar as an option if it aligns with your energy requirements and meets your home’s unique needs.

What is the required number of solar panels for my home?
The number of solar panels needed for each household varies depending on factors such as the amount of energy consumed, the climate of the area, and the amount of direct sunlight that reaches the roof. To gain a deeper understanding of these factors, please contact us today.

In your complimentary consultation, we will determine the required energy output that a solar system needs to generate in order to power your home

What is SunLink s pricing model for solar energy that is paid for upfront?
SunLink prepaid lease option provides the most cost-effective solution for solar energy. This plan enables you to pay for your solar lease in one lump sum, making your solar savings more straightforward. In contrast to our monthly lease, prepaying for solar energy means that you won’t receive monthly bills from SunLink.
What level of savings can I anticipate by switching to solar power?
Once you request a complimentary quote, our in-house Solar Advisors will collaborate with you to determine your expected savings. This calculation will be based on factors such as your utility’s solar regulations, your electricity consumption, and the amount of sunlight your home receives. We only suggest solar as an option if it aligns with your energy requirements and meets your home’s unique needs.
Does the solar system installed in my home come with a warranty?
Our solar and storage products come with strong manufacturer warranties. Additionally, if you select our prepaid lease plan, your solar system will be equipped with continuous 24/7 monitoring and maintenance. In the event of a system malfunction, we will provide repairs at no cost to you. For more information on our Comprehensive Home Solar System Support, please click here
How does the solar installation process work?
Upon approval for a solar installation, your home will undergo a site assessment to enable our Solar Design Experts to create a personalized home solar system design for you.

After that, our Solar Design Experts will adjust your design as necessary and seek your final approval. Upon approval, we’ll submit your design to the city for permitting, which can take up to eight weeks. Following this, either SunLink or one of our local certified partners will perform the solar installation.

We only collaborate with the highest-rated solar installers, ensuring that you receive the best quality solar installation possible.

Upon completion of the installation, the city or county will conduct a final inspection of the system. Once approved, the system will be connected to the grid, and we’ll submit the required documents to your utility company. Once your utility company grants Permission to Operate (PTO), your home will be ready to be powered by the sun.

How long will my solar panels last?
Solar panels have a lifespan of around 25 to 30 years, sometimes even more. However, this doesn’t mean that the panels will stop producing electricity after a few decades. It simply means that their energy production will gradually decrease over time to meet the average energy needs of an American household. Proper maintenance and care can help ensure that your solar panels continue to produce significant amounts of energy for the next 20 to 30 years. At SunLink, our prepaid lease plan includes a comprehensive service guarantee to keep your solar system in excellent condition throughout the duration of your solar agreement.
If I add energy storage?
SunLink, our comprehensive home solar battery storage service, offers numerous benefits such as powering your home during outages and high energy usage periods day and night, potentially saving you money compared to traditional generators. SunLink is also eco-friendly, emitting no fumes or noise, and is fueled by the sun.

It’s important to note that SunLink is currently only available in areas where a new SunLink home solar system is being installed, and compatibility with other systems may vary. To see if SunLink battery storage solutions are available in your area, please check with us.
